Business AnalystTechnology

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Business Analyst to join our Retail Portfolio within Asda Technology. This role is central to identifying customer and business needs, translating them into clear, data-driven requirements that enable teams to deliver the right solutions and measurable value.

You’ll work closely with product owners, engineering teams, delivery colleagues, our checkout provider and key stakeholders to support the successful delivery of Asda’s Formula for Growth - ensuring our technology remains Silent, Stable and Secure.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-moving portfolio where priorities evolve quickly, innovation is encouraged, and your work directly impacts millions of customer transactions every week. If you enjoy solving complex problems, working with diverse stakeholders, and helping shape the future of retail technology, we'd love to hear from you.

Please be advised that this position requires attendance at Asda House in Leeds for a minimum of three days per week. Due to the nature of the role and the level of collaboration required across product, delivery, stores, and third-party partners, this role is best suited to a full-time working pattern.

  • Gather, analyse, and synthesise qualitative and quantitative insight to define clear problem statements, opportunities, and improvement recommendations.
  • Translate business and user needs into clear, structured, and testable requirements, user stories, process models, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure requirements are suitable for prioritisation, delivery, testing, and stakeholder validation.

Requirements & Backlog Management

  • Elicit, analyse, document, and validate business, operational, regulatory, legislative, and technical requirements using appropriate business analysis techniques.
  • Translate customer, colleague, and business needs into clear, structured, and testable requirements, user stories, process models, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support Product Owners and delivery teams with backlog refinement, prioritisation, scope definition, and impact assessment activities, ensuring requirements remain aligned to business value and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain end-to-end traceability from business need through to requirement definition, solution delivery, testing, and implementation.
  • Identify and document dependencies, risks, assumptions, constraints, and opportunities to support effective decision-making and successful delivery outcomes.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineering teams, delivery colleagues, and third-party partners to clarify requirements, investigate defects, and define enhancement opportunities.
  • Support the ongoing refinement and management of functional demand across retail technology products and platforms, including change requests, enhancements, defect analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Where required, support the configuration and maintenance of approved low-complexity changes within vendor or business systems, including NCR Checkout and other retail technology platforms.
  • Provide analysis expertise to support solution design, product planning, delivery decisions, testing activities, implementation, and stakeholder validation.

Configuration, Documentation & Validation

  • Where required, support the configuration and maintenance of small-scale requirements directly within the NCR portal, ensuring changes are accurately captured and aligned to agreed outcomes.
  • Document real-world store processes, operational issues, gaps, assumptions, constraints, risks, and dependencies to support effective decision-making.
  • Undertake testing and validation within the Cave environment to support requirement validation, defect understanding, and solution readiness.
  • Validate documentation, requirements, and recommendations with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, Product Owners, and technology teams.

Data, Insight & Delivery Support

  • Monitor trends and use data insights to identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities
  • Support delivery by ensuring requirements traceability and alignment with programme goals
  • Contribute to governance processes, ensuring documentation, decisions, and rationale are captured

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships across product, engineering, delivery, operations, and third-party partners
  • Communicate insights, requirements, and progress clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
  • Act as a bridge between business and technical teams to ensure alignment and shared understanding
