The Asda Academy

Whether you are new to role or an experienced colleague, when it comes to leadership learning, the Asda Academy have got you covered! From coaching to influencing, wellbeing to problem solving, we offer an array of leadership learning that is virtually accessible and inclusive from entry level leaders, all the way up to and including senior level. We also offer a variety of mental health sessions to support our leaders in advocating wellbeing practices within the workplace, and spot the signs of mental ill health so they can signpost the appropriate support.

Growing with Asda Apprenticeships

Since 2017, over 2,180 of our Asda colleagues have completed an apprenticeship with us. And not only gained a recognised professional qualification, but developed new skills, knowledge and behaviours, with hands-on experience to make an impact in a transforming business. Every year we’re taking on apprentices and offering new programmes to our existing colleagues, helping them reach their potential. From HGV drivers to retail colleagues (Optical and George & General Merchandise) to our Home Offices (Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence) or more broadly Leadership and Management to name a few.

Retail – And award winning Learning & Development journey for colleagues

We want everyone who joins our stores to be set up for success, and a great future here. So, they have everything they need to grow into confident colleagues across our departments. That’s what Your Learning Journey (YLJ) is all about.

Ready to Go – Ready to Serve – Ready to Grow is designed to give you everything you need to feel confident in your role, from your induction to your fifth year with us. And support your growth across different roles in our job families, so you can gain the knowledge you need to work in a new department.

We also have a dedicated training programme for our Retail Managers. Heading to one of our Regional Training Stores, you’ll build your technical confidence and competence through structured hands-on training and experience.

We’ll welcome you into the business, helping you settle in, making sure you have the knowledge and support you need to be confident in your new role.

Ready to Serve

You’ll shadow some of our team members across different roles in our job families, and learn about the different levels in their department or store in bite-sized learning missions. So you can learn, grow, and get the knowledge you need to work in a new department.
