Operations Specialist - Core HR - Start date 9th MarchHR / People

We are currently recruiting for an Operations Specialist in our Core HR department within People Services. This is a permanent role with a start date of 9th March 2026 - you must be able to start on this date.

Core HR at ASDA People Services will play a key role in supporting the seamless execution of the Core HR business processes, terms and conditions, plans, policies and technologies as well as addressing complex queries related to these

processes. The incumbent will support in implementing and optimising core HR processes and procedures related to colleague data changes, offboarding, employment verification, and other colleague lifecycle events. The role holder will focus on ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations while providing support to colleagues and managers, senior stakeholders and People teams regarding Core HR related matters. The role holder will be expected to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and across People function (COEs, Business Partners and other People Services teams) as well as line managers and colleagues, provide highest levels of support and deliver an exceptional colleague experience.

  • Support execution of the vision and strategy for the end-to-end delivery of services for the Core HR process
  • Support in designing and implementing standardised practices and procedures to ensure consistent delivery of services
  • Analyse business problems associated with these process areas providing solutions that fit within the framework and policies associated with this expert area.
  • Support in the driving of closure of more complex requests (e.g., Retirement Compliance – Audit, Organisation Structure Change etc.)
  • Deliver high customer satisfaction by ensuring processes and problems are executed and resolved as per agreed upon SLAs, with data accuracy and effective written and verbal communication to relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform customer request/problem identification and follow defined incident notification and escalation procedures.
  • Act as People team operational expert in Core HR, delivering optimum service to colleagues and the business.
  • Effectively manage key controls and risks associated with these processes ensuring mitigations are in place to address any issues identified
  • Develop expert level understanding of People Advisor operational support in order to provide support when required Service Quality, Monitoring & Governance
  • Provide data and insights to support measurement of efficiency of the end-to-end Core HR process
  • Use data to provide evidence to manage processes and stakeholders to inform decision making and governance.
  • Monitor and manage data risk areas through effective controls. Continuous Improvement
  • Apply expert understanding to identify opportunities and propose continuous improvement measures.
  • Coach and guide managers and broader stakeholders in how to best to optimise and deliver these processes
  • Support concerned process stakeholders to identify root causes to ongoing challenges.
  • Support in determining which opportunities to pursue with in alignment to the organisational goals.
  • Stay abreast of latest trends and leading practices in the market. Implementation & Business Case Support
  • Support implementation of the initiatives launched to increase standardisation and enhance experience.
  • Use data to provide inputs, insights and recommendations to process owners to build a business case for proposed improvements across the Core HR process.

  • Detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of HR operations, compliance, and exceptional organisational skills.

  • Cross-functional projects understanding and delivery experience. Ability to analyse and present solutions to complex problems.
  • Systems development lifecycle understanding to resolve problems and drive innovation.
  • Data driven and able to analyse and navigate systems, spreadsheets, and presentations to deliver the right messages to the relevant audience.
