People PartnerHR / People

This is a fieldbased role covering Kent, Essex, Anglia & South Midlands

Role Purpose

As a People Partner, you will play a key role in enabling our line managers to take ownership of the people agenda. Working across multiple regions, you’ll help shape a culture where leadership accountability is strengthened, and people practices are embedded through the line.

This role is about creating meaningful impact — connecting people interventions to commercial performance, influencing leadership behaviours, and taking initiative to drive long-term, strategic change. You’ll also act as a change leader, supporting the design and delivery of high-level change initiatives that align with our business priorities and cultural ambitions.

In doing so, you’ll directly contribute to our mission:

"To be the UK’s best fresh food and clothing superstore by satisfying the daily and weekly shopping needs of ordinary working people and their families who demand value."

You’ll bring our Formula for Growth to life by helping leaders operate with:

  • Pace – driving action and responsiveness in people decisions
  • Motivation – inspiring ownership and accountability for the people agenda
  • Simplicity – making people processes and interventions easy to understand and apply

Key Responsibilities

Impact (Pace)

  • Deliver regionally relevant people interventions that drive measurable improvements in performance, engagement, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Partnering with Senior Directors to create impactful people plans that drive performance, engagement, and growth across the region.
  • Lead and support the implementation of high-impact change programmes, ensuring alignment with business goals and cultural transformation.
  • Connect people initiatives—such as resourcing, development, and engagement—to commercial outcomes, supporting our ambition to offer:
    • 5–10% Better Value
    • Stunning fresh food
    • A serious clothing offer

Influence (Motivation)

  • Become a true partner to leaders across up to 3 regions, acting as a coach and advisor.
  • Influence leadership teams to shift from tactical reliance on People support to proactive ownership of the people agenda.
  • Champion our values in leadership forums and everyday interactions, including:
    • "We are all colleagues – one team"
    • "Selling is our universal responsibility"
    • "We each need to improve the business every day"

Initiative (Simplification)

  • Lead and contribute to strategic people initiatives that go beyond day-to-day operations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance leadership capability, workforce planning, and talent development.
  • Actively support and shape change leadership capability across the business, ensuring leaders are equipped to lead transformation with confidence.
  • Collaborate with other People Partners to ensure consistency, share best practices, and support our growth ambitions through:
    • Truly different stores and channels
    • Sold & served with personality
    • Asda ranged, always available

Key Outcomes

  • Increased leadership accountability for people outcomes.
  • Reduced dependency on tactical People support.
  • Stronger alignment between people strategy and commercial performance.
  • Enhanced regional consistency in people delivery.
  • Effective delivery of change programmes with clear ownership and sustained impact.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in a People Partnering or HR Business Partner role, ideally across multiple regions or teams.
  • Proven ability to lead and support complex change initiatives.
  • Strong influencing and coaching skills, with the ability to challenge constructively.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to link people strategy to business goals.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to strategic people initiatives.

What Success Looks Like

  • You are a trusted partner to leaders, driving ownership and accountability.
  • You influence change through insight, challenge, and collaboration.
  • You take initiative to shape and deliver strategic people outcomes.
  • You help build a culture where people practices are owned and embedded through the line.
  • You drive leadership capability, ensuring support builds confidence and competence—not dependency.
  • You bring our mission to life by enabling better outcomes for our people and our business.
  • You help leaders act with pace, lead with motivation, and deliver with simplicity.
  • You support and enable change leadership, ensuring transformation is led with clarity and sustained through action.
  • You embody our values by working as one team, focusing on better value, and helping to improve the business every day.
