Lead Analyst - DataTechnology

This role requires on-site presence at Asda House in Leeds for at least three days per week. We’re really looking forward to having you around!

As a senior member across one or more Data product squads, you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering high-quality, trusted data products that enable Asda’s strategic priorities. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Data Architects, and a wide range of business stakeholders to drive the adoption of data-led decision making across the organisation.

You will be instrumental in transforming complex data into actionable insights, advocating for robust data quality, and helping to build scalable, fit-for-purpose solutions that empower teams to make smarter, faster decisions. This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-impact initiatives, influence data strategy, and play a central role in fostering a data-first culture across Asda.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Acting as a strategic partner to business stakeholders, capturing and translating data requirements into scalable analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Leading the analysis and documentation of end-to-end data flows, identifying data quality issues, and driving resolution in collaboration with governance and engineering teams.
  • Working closely with Data Engineers and Architects to shape technical designs, ensuring alignment with business needs and enterprise data models.
  • Owning the development and maintenance of key artefacts, including source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, and design documentation.
  • Providing expert validation and assurance of data products throughout the development lifecycle to ensure accuracy and business value.
  • Driving the adoption of self-service BI tools, enabling and empowering business users to derive insights independently.
  • Supporting the Data Product Management team in aligning product roadmaps with business priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Contributing to the design of scalable data models that underpin efficient, future-proof reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Leading and participating in Agile ceremonies, championing best practice delivery and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Partnering with the Data Governance function to uphold and enhance data quality, integrity, and compliance across your domain.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to optimise data processes, explore emerging technologies, and contribute to the advancement of Asda’s data strategy.
  • Guiding and coaching junior data analysts to support their skills and career development within Asda.

What You’ll Bring

  • Extensive experience in data analysis and solution delivery, with a proven ability to generate meaningful insight and business impact.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, with hands-on experience using modern data platforms such as Databricks.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, relational databases, and enterprise data models.
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, and advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and communicate insight clearly.
  • Strong documentation skills, with the ability to produce high-quality outputs for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • In-depth experience working within Agile delivery frameworks, with a collaborative and solution-focused approach.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to influence and engage at all levels.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with a passion for innovation, data excellence, and enabling a data-driven culture.
