The chance to move forward and progress in your career is very real here, and Asda really invests in helping its people develop.
"Asda have supported my development so much over the years. Including upskilling courses like 'Advanced Negotiation Training' and the Level 7, Senior Leader Programme with Cranfield University."
My current role is all about working closely with our Commercial Food teams to support delivering 'Excellent Execution' in stores, representing Retail at all key meetings in Asda House. My time is split between Asda House and Stores, both reviewing in the moment priorities along with more long-term strategies. Making sure we are doing things right for our stores and we are keeping things simple and easy to land. Ultimately driving better availability, sales and shelf edge execution for colleagues and customers.
I love the balance that the role brings. Between spending time at the shelf edge in-store and speaking to colleagues across the business, through to understanding how we can fix or simplify centrally, for the greater good across our whole store estate. This can be really powerful and some of the smallest, simplest changes, can make a world of difference for our Retail teams. We also work with some of our biggest suppliers and specifically their Field Sales Teams to support delivery of our trade plan in store.
My advice would be to keep building relationships, growing your network and never underestimate the value you can add. Asda has a tonne of brilliant opportunities and different teams/functions that you can get involved with. As a Retail GSM, never underestimate the power of your voice and how effective feedback can help shape things for the better! Think about how you can do more and add value in whatever your role is now and continue to be curious about all areas across the business. The 'Store Buddy Programme' is a great outlet for this!
Asda have supported my development so much over the years. Including upskilling courses like 'Advanced Negotiation Training' and the Level 7, Senior Leader Programme with Cranfield University. The opportunities available and the great people we have in this business are a massive part of why I'm still here after 18 years. I would recommend Asda as a great place to work and a business that believes in growing people.
