What does a typical day look like?
No day is ever the same! One day I can be looking at a national campaign to ensure we are raising awareness for the fabulous opportunities we have at Asda, then focus may move to our continuous attraction methods and how we improve these such as the careers site, interview and assessment material and our social value recruitment. I also manage the temporary labour for Asda, this involves working with our supply chain ondemand plans, compliance and ensuring they are a true partner to Asda. Ultimately, I am here to continuously improve our recruitment process and provide a first-class hiring experience to both candidates and hiring managers, whilst keeping the operation moving with the best candidates for the roles we have. This may be hiring candidates immediately, or keeping in touch with the market for when that perfect role lands! My role is diverse and offers lots of breadth!
What is your favourite part of the job?
It would be very hard to pick just one thing as I am truly lucky to love my role, I enjoy the fast pace of recruiting for the operation for Asda.
I also enjoy finding jobs for great candidates – I know this is cliché but it is true.
What advice do you have for anybody wanting to follow this career path?
A key attribute is absolutely having a passion to help people. The ability to build great relationships is fundamental.
Being able to prioritise and have excellent organisational skills is without a doubt needed. Talent Acquisition is fast paced from shifting business priorities to a demanding external candidate led market.
If you like no day to be the same, helping people, improving processes and seeing the end result, this could be the role for you.
