Transformation Office Portfolio Lead

This is an exciting opportunity to join a business undergoing one of the largest Transformations in Europe.

 

This is a Senior Management position with 2 direct reports, reporting to the Transformation Delivery Director. The Transformation Office is the engine room behind the delivery of ASDA's strategy and the value we unlock as a business. The team plays a key role in the wider Transformation function, supporting the Transformation Leadership team in setting the pace and quality in planning and delivery of complex programmes, and driving a culture of accountability and ownership to ensure Transformation outcomes are high quality & value orientated.

 

Please note this is a 12 month Secondment / fixed term position, but a high percentage of our fixed term colleagues secure permanent opportunities along the way.

 

About the role:

  • Provides oversight of the full Portfolio of Programmes across Transformation, from inception to benefits realisation, providing visibility of the benefits being delivered
  • Leads and owns the creation of one overarching plan for the full portfolio
  • Shapes and leads the Transformation governance and decision making frameworks across a diverse portfolio, ensuring fit for purpose in all areas
  • Supports Transformation Leadership in maintaining holistic oversight of all Transformation in the business, obtaining an overarching view of progress and facilitating strategic alignment and prioritisation,
  • Works cross functionally with other enabling functions (eg Finance, People, Tech) to establish consistent ways of working with all Transformation Programmes and support financial & resource planning across the business
  • Continuously reviews and improves ways of working to support a best in class Transformation Office with the most efficient and effective ways of working that enable visibility across Transformation leadership & the Exec
  • Supports fast, high quality and effective decision making through data-led insights and analysis
  • Sets the direction as to system and toolkit requirements for Programmes to capture their data accurately and seeks to understand the art of the possible regarding current system functionality, liaising with interdependent functions
  • Leading on completion of regular research on new and emerging developments and, innovations on best practice on portfolio management practices and implementation of new ways of operating
  • Works collaboratively with the Strategy, Change and Business Architecture teams to align on combined approaches to support Programmes of delivery across Transformation to ensure that the Transformation function is set for success in supporting delivery
  • Works hand in hand with the Transformation Office Delivery Lead and the Programme Manager Practice Lead to ensure that the Transformation Delivery team is best in class and has constant pipeline of improvements

 

 About You

  • Proven experience at senior level running multiple large, Transformational Programmes in a Programme Manager or PMO Lead capacity
  • Deep expertise across one or many of the following: Strategic PMO, Programme Management, Transformation, Strategy, Internal or client facing Consulting
  • Track record of the successful delivery of large scale, complex Programmes, including experience of complex Tech enabled change
  • Strong knowledge of cross-functional business operations and evidence of building collaborative cross functional relationships
  • Successful track record of developing and managing teams and multiple 3rd party relationships
  • Experience in fast paced and uncertain environments, with a track record of provide agile support to meet changing business needs
  • Experience in building and managing change operating models and identifying and implementing process, structure and operational improvements
  • Preferred: experience in large scale M&A and separation Programmes
  • Preferred: FMCG and/or Food Retail sector experience
