Senior Communication Manager

Haven't you heard? Asda is separating from Walmart

It means we are going through one of the biggest retail transformation programmes that the world has ever seen. ‘Future' is the name for the programme that will see Asda create their new operating model, independent from Walmart.

As part of a transformation programme leadership team, the purpose of the Senior Communication Manager is to manage the activation and communication strategy across the portfolio of complex and interdependent transformation projects. Ensuring colleague adoption and realisation of business benefits is critical to our success.

Please note this is a 24-month secondment / fixed term position, but a high percentage of our fixed term colleagues secure permanent opportunities along the way.

Your Role

  • Work with programme leadership to translate the strategy into an actionable plan
  • Drive awareness, engagement and understanding of transformation driven change at all levels across the wider business
  • Maintain a robust engagement plan for the colleagues working within the transformation portfolio
  • Build strong working relationships with the internal communication, retail and logistics teams
  • Provide support and expertise to the business functions as they build their functional-specific change plans
  • Own the principle change communication plan – connecting the programme plans into a simple, easily-measured view
  • Own the business engagement plan, connecting the dots across the programmes and functions, rolling up headline messages and communicating them in a compelling way
  • Manage the priorities and outputs of the full Activation team
  • Oversee the preparation of materials and content that can be utilised at relevant internal and external forums

About You

  • Extensive experience of leading communication projects in large, complex transformation programmes
  • Ability to work in pressurised environments, deal with a high volume of complex information and data and managing multiple conflicting priorities
  • Experience of working in a matrixed structure and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others across a range of functional area
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills with experience of presenting / exposure to senior leadership groups

Hybrid Working

Work Where it Works.  Our hybrid way of working gives you the choice to work where it works.  This enables you to complete your daily tasks where you'll be the most effective.  It offers a mix of working from home and in an office environment that works best for you and your team.  We would love to talk to you about this.

You will also get an excellent benefits package including:

  • Company car or £8k car allowance, plus discretionary company bonus
  • Company pension 1.5 times colleague's contribution (Max 15%)
  • 10% colleague discount, free parking and many additional rewards.

We want all colleagues to be able to bring their best and true selves to work, every day. Simply put, we want our colleagues to be Proud to be Asda and proud to be themselves.

If you have any questions, then please email Maariyah.S.Akram@asda.co.uk
