We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Buying Manager to join our team and play a key role in driving forward our Homewares strategy.   The Homewares and Small Domestic Appliance categories are currently delivering fantastic growth and play a critical role in delivering our future growth ambitions in General Merchandise  .

Your Role

You will be responsible for leading a team of buyers and buying assistants in a category which has an exciting mix of commodity, branded and George Home trend led product.

Working with your Senior Merchandising Manager, you will lead the product strategy and manage the team to build ranges and a calendar of promotions and events which deliver market leading growth. You must be passionate about product, be close to the market and what our customers need . Understanding how we embrace future trends to lead product development and innovation in the category is key .

You will work with a diverse blend of domestic and import suppliers from around the world to deliver amazing value for our customers. The category also has strong national brand partners so building relationships , growth plans , negotiating the best terms and trading activity plan is critical.

Delivery of our omni channel growth plan will be an integral part of the role and will require you to work with stakeholders to achieve challenging targets at speed .

About You

  • Relevant senior buying experience and a real passion and history of outperforming targets on sales, market share, profit & inventory.
  • Experience of leading a buying team in an omni channel business and motivating them to excel
  • Proven track record in championing innovation and product development
  • Self-starter, comfortable taking accountability and creative in problem solving
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to define and shape strategy both short & long-term.
  • The ability to work and make decisions at pace, prioritise effectively, and engage stakeholders at all levels of the business across multiple functions.
  • Proven ability of working effectively with other teams and suppliers to achieve results
  • Confident to present and communicate information to any audience
  • Agile , flexible , open to change and new ways of working
  • Strong planning and organizing skills

 

Work Where it Works

Our hybrid way of working allows a good balance between working from home and in the office. Throughout any training, you will be required to work from the office full time to ensure you get the support you need to be successful. Following completion of your training validation, you would be expected in the office a minimum of 2 days a week, with additional days from time to time to suit business needs.
