The Data Insight & Analytics Team within Asda Technology is supporting one of the largest retail transformations in Europe and driving the delivery of new advanced data capability through new technology, processes, and governance, in service of empowering a data-driven culture and the delivery of inspiring data products that facilitate the exploitation of data assets across Asda.

You will join us on an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract.
Your Role
As our Data Quality Analyst, you will be helping to build, implement and mature ASDA Data Quality Framework under the leadership of the Data Quality Manager, supporting the wider data management and governance function, coordinating data quality efforts for ASDA in line with external and internal policies, standards and processes.
In your role you will be working with data stewards, business data analysts, engineering squads and data quality managers to embed the robust data quality framework whilst optimising data quality practices using continuous monitoring and supporting the data quality incident management service.
- You will be technically savvy with a good working knowledge of databases, metadata and Master Data Management techniques, common reference data management, data integration and product information management.
- You will work closely with data stewards and data architects to support continuous improvement of logical data structures and data hierarchies, particularly where data quality needs improving or defining; and will be comfortable using and reading logical data models to articulate complex business data requirements to delivery teams, particularly those building the Data Ecosystem.
- You will need to engage technical teams working at the application level within the Asda application landscape to drive insight and value through data; helping to embed data quality management at procedural levels and through the data lifecycle, in order to resolve data quality issues impacting key metrics and performance indicators, and long-term improve accuracy of data.
- You will need to understand the complete data lifecycle against which we can measure if data is managed well, fit-for-purpose, accurate, complete/consistent, and timely.
About You
- You will be proactive and keen to help the business better manage and govern its data
- You are a strong communicator and facilitator and able to work with and influence at the functional level of the organisation
- You have a solid background in data quality management and governance and a track record of delivering measurable benefits and a working knowledge of frameworks
- You will have a working knowledge of SQL, R/Python, Data Quality as well as ETL tools and technologies, and be able to perform data profiling and run data quality checks
- You will have hands on experience working in Data lakes, Cloud data environments, CI/CD techniques, specifically in MS Azure will be beneficial
- You should have previous practical work experience with SAP, Master Data Management, retail industry experience will be a plus.
