“Find your role”

We have a new role for an experienced data protection professional to join the Asda Data Protection Operations Team in our award winning Legal and Compliance Function. This role will be the key point of contact for areas of our business who process customer data including Asda's Data Science and Analytics, Customer Loyalty and Ecommerce teams. It will be supported by one direct report.

Working within a dynamic and supportive team, you will:

  • Business partner with key customer facing areas to provide risk-based data protection advice and training to enable data protection by design.
  • Complete Data Protection Risk Assessments and manage Records of Processing Activities for customer data processing.
  • Create and manage Data Protection related policies, standards, procedures and Privacy Notices.
  • Liaise with Asda's Cyber Security and Data Governance teams to support aligned ways of working across risk assessment processes, policies, standards and training.
  • Manage and drive process improvement in the OneTrust platform modules used by the Data Protection team, and work alongside the Onetrust product owner for modules which are owned jointly.
  • Support data incident management and regulator contact responses.
  • Manage and drive improvement in Data Protection performance metrics and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Data Protection Legal Team to deliver aligned advice, horizon scanning and business partnering.
  • Have line management responsibility for one colleague.

Let's find out about you”

  • Holds a degree level education in a relevant subject, or equivalent level of experience.
  • Has an expert level of understanding of relevant UK Data Protection Laws and previous experience working in a data protection role.
  • Holds a recognised data protection certifications e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT.
  • Preferably has previous experience of working with data protection management software, such as Onetrust.
