About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a category technologist to join our team in the ASDA Brand team, here at Asda House! The role is a 12 month maternity cover, with further potential within the business. You will be responsible for a diverse product portfolio across edible grocery.

This role represents a fantastic opportunity to engage colleagues across the business and our suppliers to ensure that our customers are able to trust our private label in terms of product safety and legality, ensuring that agreed specifications are met consistently.

As a category technologist, you will report into and work collaboratively with the category technical manager and support the category using your experience and knowledge to risk assess factory processes and management systems.

You will understand the category strategies and your role within it.

You will also need to support in delivering strategic priorities with our suppliers. 

About you

A graduate or equivalent in food science and technology or similar discipline with practical manufacturing experience including BRC and HACCP in a factory or retail environment. You will have the confidence and expertise to communicate with knowledge and passion with our trading teams as well as senior management in our factory base.

You will be computer literate with experience to navigate specification and supplier management computerised systems.

Our customer is number 1 and you will seek to understand their concerns and requirements and the customer and commercial impact of decisions made.

Ability to prioritise and flex to business needs, ensuring all specifications in our system are current and signed, are agreed with your business partners and all active supplying sites are on the system and have the required compliance and Responsible sourcing documentation.
