The Process

Supporting you every step of the way

We appreciate that making an application can be stressful, particularly when you really want the opportunity. As Asda, we strive to make the process as easy as we can, helping you understand what’s expected of you and giving you the opportunity to shine.

Depending on the role you apply for, here’s what you could expect:

Your Blended Assessment will be completed online and may include:

A Personality Test

This is a chance for us to assess whether you have the traits most likely to succeed in our business and, more specifically, in the role you have applied for.

All the questions here are multiple choice. Just remember, there will be no time limits, no right or wrong answers, be self-aware and try to answer as truthfully as possible. Above all, remain focused and answer all the questions - take it seriously, take your time and good luck!

Aptitude Tests – Numerical/Verbal Reasoning/Analytical/Coding

These assess whether you have the practical skills for the job. For example, you might have to analyse a problem to come up with a proposed solution. Or, you could be asked to demonstrate your technical skills by using equipment or software you’ll need to use in the job.

This is a pre-recorded online interview, where your responses will be captured on video.

We’ll use examples of some of the day-to-day challenges and tasks of the role or programme you’re applying for to see how you would respond. That way, we can make sure the way you work is a good fit with our culture and values. It’s also a great opportunity for you to decide whether this is really the role for you by giving you further insight into what you’ll be doing and what it’s like to work here.

To prepare you for your video interview, we recommend the following:

  • Project a confident tone and body language.
  • Dress professionally.
  • Choose the right location.
  • Make sure you’ll have no interruptions.
  • Show a clear image of your face.
  • Get a well-balanced shot of your head and upper body.

This includes a group exercise, a pitch and an interview.

Group Exercise

The group exercise simulates a typical work scenario and will measure your ability to work in a team, contribute, delegate, and come up with solutions. In short, it measures the skills which are useful to us here at Asda.

Pitch

The ‘pitch’ or presentation is an opportunity for you to pitch an idea or a solution to a problem. You may be asked to analyse data or do some research to back up your ideas.

Interview

The interview will explore your motivation, commercial awareness and cultural fit.

Top Tips

It’s important that you can listen to other people's ideas, be positive, and articulate your own ideas. Please remember, we can only assess what we see so if you have a great idea don’t be afraid to speak up.
