Early Careers Recruitment Process

We know applying to a job opportunity or programme can feel overwhelming. So here’s everything you need to know that takes the stress out of the application process, and what to expect.

Applying for an Apprenticeship, Graduate, or Early Careers role you really want, should be exciting, not scary. That’s why we’re doing our best to make the process as easy as possible, and making sure you understand what’s expected of you; and what to expect from us. That way, you can focus on getting off to a flying start and being your best self, and start shaping a career you'll love.

Here’s everything you can expect.

Filling out your Blended Assessment

You can complete this online, it may include…

Seeing if it’s a match

We’ll ask you to fill out a short questionnaire to see if your preferred ways of working line up with the role you’re applying for.

The questions are multiple choice and there’s no time limit, so feel free to take your time but don’t overthink it. Just consider what’s most applicable to you most of the time and go with your initial instincts. There are no right or wrong answers here. Just stay focused and answer all the questions in your own time.

Getting to see your skills

Depending which role you’re applying for, we may ask you to complete one or more aptitude tests, which could be numerical, verbal reasoning, analytical, or coding, for example. Your results will help us see if you have the basic skills or aptitude required for the role you’ve applied for.

Putting a face to the name

We’ll send you a link to take part in a short video interview. Typically, we’ll ask three short questions that will explore what’s motivated you to join Asda and your interest in the role or programme you’ve applied for.

It's a great way for us to get to know you a little better and see if the way you work is a good fit with our culture and values.

Joining us at an assessment centre

After you’ve completed your video interview, the next stage will be joining us at an assessment centre, which will involve a group exercise, an individual activity, and an interview.

Group Exercise

We’ll give you and your group a typical workplace scenario, and then measure how well you work with your team, contribute, delegate, and come up with solutions. In short, it’s about seeing if you’ve got the skills that you’ll need here at Asda.

Pitch

We love hearing new ideas. So this is a chance for you to pitch an idea or solution to a problem to us, you could be asked to analyse data or do a bit of research to back up your ideas.

Interview

You’ll have a chance to sit down with us and explore your motivation, commercial awareness, and see if you’ll fit our culture here. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions you have about the role and Asda.

The teams I have worked in have been really supportive of my development, which has helped me to shape my career at Asda.
