Asda is undergoing an exciting data transformation, placing insight and analytics at the heart of strategic decision-making. We are seeking a structured, organised, and proactive Portfolio Manager to support the squads that deliver insight across our commercial, customer, supply chain, and digital functions.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the portfolio, ensuring our work is aligned with strategic objectives, as well as providing targeted project management support where required. They will also be critical in driving a high performing team culture across Insight & Analytics.

This role requires a blend of portfolio and project management skills, structured thinking, collaboration, and effective communication . You'll learn from experienced programme and portfolio colleagues, as well as developing knowledge of the ways we are driving business performance through data.

What You'll Love

  • Provide visible support across the Insight & Analytics function, enacting clear project management routines and building trust through pace, presence and results

  • Understand requirements and priorities, and identify what analytics support is needed and for how long, feeding in to prioritisation discussions and resource allocation

  • Align with allied functions, such as Technology, to identify dependencies, remove blockers, and accelerate progress

  • Lead coordination efforts across Insight & Analytics disciplines to deliver projects/tools which can step change our performance

  • Manage portfolio finances, working with Finance to ensure the budget tracker is accurate and flagging any risks or variances

  • Contribute to team meetings and events, such as our quarterly team days, by developing material and organising speakers, fostering a culture of a great place to work

  • Learn and develop in a high-performing team with opportunities to increase your influence and responsibility over time

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Recent experience in undertaking a similar role managing projects or a portfolio. Proven ability to define scope, timelines, milestones, and deliverables, as well as implement governance structures that drive prioritisation, accountability and momentum.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Practical examples of working with both Agile and Waterfall approaches to Project Management.

  • Self-starter who can respond to changing priorities with a sense of urgency and pace.

  • Team player with a creative approach to fostering a strong and inclusive team culture

  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint) and experience with project/portfolio management software (e.g. MS Project, JIRA, PowerApps)

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Analytics, or a related field

  • Certification in project management (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, AgilePM)

  • Competence in creating reports using Excel, PowerBI, or similar tools
