As part of the markdown optimisation team we work closely with our commercial colleagues to support them with the strategy and approach to clearance of products from stores. The team are responsible for the execution of the clearance pricing that supports with driving the profitability of the organisation and we play a crucial role in ensuring we exit store activity in the most efficient and profitable way.
We support the commercial team with analysis of inventory, pricing strategy and future stock projections to ensure we finally balance holding enough inventory of a soon-to-be deleted product versus leaving shelves empty for weeks for the customer. You will also play an important role in managing the transition of our Future systems transformation programme.

Your role will be pivotal in delivering cost savings back to the business by identifying inventory opportunities and savings whilst also optimising where we are required to spend money on markdowns.
You will work as part of a central team that collaborates cross functionally with multiple other business units such as Commercial and Retail Operations. The team consists of multiple other analysts who each work on multiple elements of commercial activity throughout the year.
You will be pivotal in delivering inventory and markdown optimisation results as part of our ever-ongoing range change activities within store to ensure we exit stock most profitably and make decisions with the overall business at your heart. Whilst managing activity week to week operationally you will also have the opportunity working with commercial & supply chain in identifying potential inventory issues and coming up with solutions to resolve these.
You will use a multitude of applications to help you deliver strong analysis and analytics to engage with various business units and inform the business on decision making and opportunities in the future.
Whilst been instrumental in the inventory & markdown decision making for range change activity you will also have the opportunity to analyse and optimise promotional and event activity to help identify further opportunities.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of current operational processes specifically around range changes and promotional activity whilst ideally a basic commercial and supply chain understanding which will support your decision making principles.
You must be comfortable using and understanding technical systems and also handling vast amounts of data whilst also having the ability to present and communicate that data efficiently across the business. Given the volume and importance of the data and decisions you will be making strong attention to detail is a given for the candidate.
The candidate needs to be engaging and at ease when working collaboratively and cross functionally with multiple stake holders at once and be a strong, clear & decisive communicator and decision maker. Problem solving and solutioning will be a key skill of yours and give you the ability to make clear decisions with the interest of the overall business at heart.
