The role of the Healthcare Area Manager is to manage our Optical and Pharmacy instore departments, ensuring they are safe, legal and profitable. The Healthcare Area Manager will become the subject matter experts in Pharmacy & Optical operations, overseeing the implementation of the corporate strategy through direct line management of our Healthcare Professionals.

You will help to support the development of divisional and regional operational strategies, driving the delivery of the defined Optical and Pharmacy KPIs by creating robust action plans, coaching through to implementation and holding your team accountable in meeting performance outputs.

As Healthcare Area Manager, you will identify further opportunities for growth across the Optical and Pharmacy business through regular performance reviews with an eye for changes in the local market.

The Healthcare Area Manager will be responsible for completing regular commercial and compliance focused visits across their Optical and Pharmacy units, identifying areas of opportunity, seeking resolution or escalating to stakeholders as appropriate.

Managing through the line all the end-to-end resourcing process to ensure our Optical and Pharmacy departments are there to best serve and delight our customers. This includes managing resourcing KPIs include conducting contract base reviews, professional recruitment, management of employment costs and facilitation of locum management and performance feedback.

You will be a key business partner to both the Optical and Pharmacy Superintendents, liaising with stores teams to assist in risk assessing and completing actions assigned in any incident review.

This role has a number of stakeholders at all levels both internal and external. The Healthcare Area Manager needs to be adaptable in communication styles and credible in delivery managing a broad range of experience and qualifications

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous Area/Field management experience across retail or healthcare backgrounds
  • An understanding and knowledge of the subject matter area
  • This role is field based for which the Healthcare Area Manager is expected to be regionally mobile within a defined geographic area across our retail regions, working to provide weekend cover on a rota basis.
