Career Progression

Pellentesque dui sem, mattis vel tortords quis, pellente sque dapibus ipsum.

Opportunities are always there for the taking at Asda, but it’s up to you to take them. Of course, we’ll help steer you towards them every step of the way, but by making sure you’re always networking, looking for working groups and stretch projects to be involved in and stepping up and stepping forward, you can set your own pace.

Some Advice about Self Development

  • Feedback – get as much as you can, only then will you know what you’re doing well and which areas need improvement.
  • Weekly One to Ones – book them in! It is down to you to book in a weekly review with your line manager to discuss performance and set new goals for the following weeks.
  • Quarterly One-to-Ones – Again, book these in to discuss potential rotations, career goals and further development opportunities.
  • Individual Development Plan – Have one. Refer to it. Frequently. Keep notes, update it, and discuss it with others to get ideas as to how to evolve it.

Some more great advice...

  • Our most successful colleagues are those who deliver their day job but also take up further stretch opportunities such as working on cross-functional projects, supporting Creating Change for Better activity, attending careers fairs and engaging with youth outreach.

Of course, we have a big role to play too.

  • ''Moving around is so important. Tasting different areas of the business and seeing how they work together is the best insight you can get.''

  • ''Future Talent can go anywhere here. A lot of people stay with the business because there are so many places they can go. Yes, you do have to be driven and a bit headstrong – waiting around for recognition doesn’t work very well here.''
