Your Role

The Customer Experience & Insights team provides business critical insights using qualitative and quantitative research and analytics, sets customer direction for the business and support teams to execute strategic initiatives, customer propositions and innovation.

Your role will be to lead foresights as part of a high performing Customer Experience & Insight team, reporting into a Senior Insights Manager.

In a fast-changing and unpredictable world, you will help the business to understand future scenarios and shape responses to change and navigate uncertainty with confidence.

You will take a broad view and bring together societal, political, economic, industry and sector insights and trends to identify developments and drivers of change that have the potential to impact Asda's future.

You will use a range of research and structured thinking methodologies to identify, analyse and communicate insights about the future. You will identify drivers of change, monitor them systematically and imagine multiple scenarios and plausible futures to anticipate and better prepare for change, stress test existing strategies and identify opportunity spaces for innovation, value generation and growth.

You will support and facilitate the business to explore future scenarios, align on a vision for the future, understand what this could mean for consumers and agree actions to prepare for multiple ways the future could play out. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Constantly horizon scan to seek out developments and trends using a broad spectrum of insight sources
  • Shape possible future scenarios and potential implications and considerations for Asda and Asda customers
  • Support the facilitation of discussions with Senior stakeholders across the business on future scenarios, prioritisation, vision setting and action planning
  • Work in close collaboration with the strategy and transformation team on potential strategic implications
  • Keep the team and key stakeholders aware of key developments
  • Engage the business on future scenarios to support the building of a future-mindset culture
  • Actively build working relationships around the business with key stakeholders across functions and external agency partners 
  • Take on at least 1 ‘extracurricular' responsibility for the Asda Customer Experience & Insights Team to support the overall happiness, fulfilment, and development of the team


About You

Curious, analytical, creative thinker. Excellent and rigorous logic, good instincts, and a can-do attitude are more important than any formal qualifications. You will be best suited to this role if you:

  • Have experience in horizon scanning, trend research, and scenario planning
  • Have experience in customer and market quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
  • Take a long-term view, looking forwards, rather than only backwards
  • Obsess about consumer wants, needs and barriers
  • Have strong analytical skills and can competently analyse data, draw out key findings and distil the most important points
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills (particularly powerpoint and word), able to distil the “so what?” and make the complex and ambiguous clear and simple to understand
  • Manage your own and others' workload in a structured and efficient way
  • Work effectively and harmoniously with people from other teams and other functions

But please remember that this role is Leeds based and will involve many meetings and workshops that you will be expected to attend in person – it is not possible to do this role remotely.
