Asda's Cyber Security function are looking for a new  Security Engineer to join our dedicated and expanding Cyber Security Operations function to help design, build and configure our security, tools and processes in a cloud first environment.


This opportunity will allow the successful candidate to join a once-in-a-career program helping transform Asda into the UK's leading technology retailer. Joining the fast-paced program will require focus and the agility to adapt in moving technology landscapes.

About You

  • Experience of supporting SIEM implementation in the context of a SOC, including reading and querying logs
  • Experience in implementation, management, and maintenance of security toolsets
  • Knowledge of email security/filtering gateways best practices
  • Knowledge of Proxy/Cloud Proxy (CASB) best practices
  • Experience using Azure Logic Apps (desirable)
  • Experience with End Point Security, EDR, DLP tools and Antivirus
  • Knowledge of Cloud Security best practices
  • Good technical knowledge and experience across Microsoft platforms and technologies. (e.g. Azure, Sentinel, Office365, Windows 365, Defender)
  • Able to write and run scripts (Powershell, Python, etc)
  • Experience with Terraform, Git, CI/CD pipelines for IaC deployments (Desirable)
  • Experience in advising best practices for securing resources within Azure and or other leading cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of approaches for Identity Management and federation including SSO options.
  • Ability to engage with a cross-section of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, at various levels of seniority, including director level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have a learning mindset and strive to constantly improve your security knowledge and expertise.
  • Demonstrate a customer service mindset to deliver high quality, results oriented, business focused, security solutions

 

Beneficial Certification / Accreditation

  • Relevant certifications demonstrating suitable expertise in information security (Desirable) including Azure, Sentinel and Defender.

Responsibilities

  • Be a key member of the Security Engineering team with in the SecOps function working closely with the Lead Security Engineer to assess and onboard security solution to improve ASDAs Security posture
  • Engineer, implement, maintain, and monitor security operations security systems (SIEM)
  • Manage continuous improvement to drive quality, completeness, value, and maturity of the service including identifying areas for automation
  • Serve as an escalation point for security incidents relating to the Security Operations Centre
  • Configuration and maintenance from a security perspective of key security monitoring and alerting tools
  • Implement rule changes and document and enforce change control
  • Production and delivery of project documentation
  • Manage customer expectations and requirements across a broad technical security environment
  • Maintain our ‘cloud-first' journey to the highest security standards and recommended best practices
  • Make sure key security capabilities such as SIEM monitoring are embedded early in the project lifecycle
  • Collaboratively working with other cyber security disciplines and technical colleagues, such as the architecture team, to deliver a security viewpoint on SecOps projects that will inform the design while ensuring security requirements are met
  • Collaboratively working with other security experts in the team (GRC, Threat Intelligence, SOC, Incident Response etc) to ensure that the projects assigned follow relevant governance requirements, risk management and onboarding
  • Help create new processes and policies that best aid the cyber security team meet the needs of our stakeholders
  • Apply detailed knowledge of the current cybersecurity threat landscape, technical vulnerabilities and attack methodologies to the project requirements as needed and assist with table to exercises.

Please note this role has no direct reports.
