As a fast-paced organisation with over 600 sites, the food safety programme is continually evolving. The business has ambitious plans for growth and embraces new ideas and innovation to support operational teams to succeed. As part of the Food Safety team, you will be supporting the business to effectively manage operational food safety and hygiene requirements.

 

Your Role:

 

Developing the food safety programme

  • Support to deliver a cost-effective programme that mitigates risk
  • Develop policies and procedures that align to, and support operational ways of working
  • Provide measures to ensure continuous improvement through the delivery of operational simplification
  • Analyse data to support in the creation of meaningful awareness campaigns and leadership programme insights

 

Business partnering

  • Support the business in the development of new store formats and fresh food customer offers  
  • Working collaboratively and cross-functionally to effectively manage risk and implement cost-effective operational solutions

 

Liaising with regulatory agencies

  • Communicating and working collaboratively with external agencies
  • Working collaboratively with national regulators to shape future food safety enforcement strategies
  • Work in partnership with Primary Authority to develop, review and assure operational food safety policies and procedures
  • Support operational teams to respond to regulatory contact in a timely and professional manner

 

About You

  • You will be a manager with a strong operational food safety background with a track record of managing food safety across a large national retail business
  • You will hold, or be actively working towards, membership of appropriate professional bodies
  • An ability to engage across multiple channels and work effectively and collaboratively across different teams
  • An ability to deliver at pace in a complex and ever-changing environment 
  • Excellent business partnering and communication skills 
  • You will lead by example and do the right thing whilst being open, honest, and accessible
  • Retail store and distribution experience would be advantageous but not a pre-requisite
  • Excellent business partnering, written and verbal communication skills are essential
