Senior Manager role accountable for implementing the operating model to the tech team; partnering with the Digital Operation Lead (Product) to optimize development flow, agile delivery framework and move to DevOps ways of working, whilst ensuring service is protected.

Success will require delivery & completion of Future Challenge24 is not compromised, while incrementally delivering the ‘new’ operational processes and ways of working with our strategic run/product partner (TCS). They will be a driver to push through dogma, change and cultural resistance to successfully land the run state transition and provide a solid foundation for ongoing transformation

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for setting the standards, defining level of maturity & continual improvement of our tech services; tech SPOC (representing GDMs, Service Mgr, Engineering), to deliver a self-healing and stable platform while balancing speed of delivery to meet business goals

  • Define and embed the operating model and ways of working (in partnership with Digital Ops Lead), supporting both KTLO, strategic change and aligns to the visions & values of Asda i.e. Lean/MVP delivery model, User Centred Design, experimentation, continuous delivery and time to market

  • Provide clarity on roles and responsibilities between Product, Ecom tech, central Asda tech horizontals

  • Promote a 'one team' culture and ways of working with delivery partners and product teams

  • Optimise tooling to support effective delivery whilst maintaining control/governance and visibility

  • Timely escalation of anything preventing the above to delivery and engineering director/senior managers

  • Deliver playbook for how we deliver change - Including the high-level methodology, inputs/outputs and working with Product, UX and other teams

How You'll Do it


  • The role requires deep and comprehensive knowledge of Agile delivery model, DevOps ways of working and digital transformation. Specialism in creating and running high performing agile teams, building stable and performant platforms and continually improving the delivery model, team performance, responsiveness to business change & needs
  • You will use your understanding and experience to communicate, plan and implement the capabilities and roadmap to achieve this vision and drive improvement in a set of agreed OKRs/KPIs e.g. DORA

Communicating and Influencing.

  • This is a key leadership role, requiring you to build and maintain an extensive network of peers and contacts at all levels between both business, product and tech stakeholders
  • You will need to challenge, confront and solve difficult situations and organisational dogma, whilst maintaining solid connections.

Influencing and negotiating

  • You will achieve results through inspiring and motivating your team(s) as well as showing action and leading by example to deliver the Op model
  • In partnership with Digital Operations Lead (responsible for Product & UX) deliver playbook for how we deliver change - Including the high level methodology, inputs/outputs and working with Product, UX and other teams

Experience: You will have proven previous success of leading operational delivery and stability within modern agile methodology
