We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Kidsswear Print Designer to join our talented design team. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing innovative, market-leading prints that reflect the George brand while meeting the unique needs and preferences of our young customers. You will collaborate closely with the garmetn design, product development, and buying teams to bring seasonal collections to life, from initial concept to finished product.

“Find your role”

  • Print Design Development: Lead the design process for kidsswear prints, from initial concept creation to final artwork. Create hand-drawn and digital prints that align with seasonal trends, product briefs, and customer needs.
  • Trend Analysis and Research: Stay ahead of kidswear and fashion trends, conducting thorough market research to ensure our prints are fresh, on-trend, and commercially viable. Present seasonal print directions to the design team and stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Kidswear Design, the design team, and buyers to ensure prints are aligned with the overall collection strategy and the final product vision.
  • Technical Execution: Prepare high-quality print artwork, ensuring all designs are ready for production with detailed specifications, colour-ways, and repeat patterns.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Continuously push creative boundaries and explore new techniques, fabrications, and styles to elevate the George kidswear range.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Mentor and support junior designers, sharing your expertise in print design and encouraging a collaborative, creative environment within the team.
  • Quality Control: Oversee the quality of prints throughout the production process, ensuring they meet the high standards expected by the brand. Troubleshoot any issues with print execution or manufacturing.
  • Brand Alignment: Ensure all designs align with George’s brand identity and customer expectations, maintaining consistency across all products and seasons.

“Let's find out about you”

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a kidswear print design role, preferably within a retail or fashion brand. Proven track record of creating successful print collections for kidswear.
  • Skills:
    • Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of kidswear prints and design work.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
    • Knowledge of technical processes, print techniques, and fabrications in the fashion industry.
    • Excellent understanding of print production, colourways, and pattern repeat.
    • Strong sense of creativity, attention to detail, and ability to translate trends into commercially viable designs.
  • Education: A degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Passion for kidswear design and a keen interest in youth culture and trends.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well within a team and liaise with multiple departments.
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a proactive approach to sharing knowledge and encouraging creativity within the team.
    • A strong understanding of the commercial side of design and the ability to design with both creativity and business acumen in mind.
