“Find your role”

This position is a coordinator role for the Consumer Protection and Advertising subject area within the Legal and Compliance function. The role holder is responsible for the effective delivery of the Consumer Protection and Advertising Compliance programme through; reviewing and advising on advertising; policy, process and guidance writing; analysis of and reporting on key areas.

  • Provide guidance on advertising compliance as part of the regular surgery sessions
  • Review marketing communications for Asda and George brands
  • Provide guidance on Green and Environmental claims
  • Support our responses to Advertising Standards Authority and Primary Authority enquiries, complaints and referrals through investigation, correction and root cause analysis
  • Make recommendations to our business partners regarding process improvements to support meeting legal requirements
  • Support on the day-to-day admin and store queries resulting from the Challenge 25 test purchase programme
  • Responsible for creating, publishing and updating policy, procedure and guidance documents across all areas of Consumer Protection and Advertising
  • Create and publish communications to stores to drive awareness of consumer protection and advertising priorities
  • Responsible for conducting Consumer Protection and Advertising monitoring activities, including reviews in-store and online
  • Responsible for supporting on projects as and when required
  • Positively identify and mitigate risk by working cross-functionally and providing timely input
  • Supporting on the production and delivery of training to upskill business partners as required

How You'll Do It

  • The role requires knowledge of the consumer regulatory environment and appreciation of consumer protection legislation, the CAP/BCAP Codes for advertising and, the CMAs Green Claims Code
  • The ability to risk assess and think innovatively within a retail environment is essential
  • This role requires you to build and maintain an extensive network of key stakeholders at all levels across the business and regularly interact with peers across Commercial, Customer Marketing, Online and Retail teams
  • You will confidently challenge, make recommendations and work collaboratively with both internal and external connections
  • You will achieve results through clear communication of complex information and have the ability to influence and motivate others to do the right thing
  • This role requires a high degree of autonomous thinking, using your experience and guided by regulatory requirements. You will be expected to positively challenge and question with the aim of improving efficiencies in the ways of working. You will demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to support business initiatives whilst managing risk.
  • You will have the ability to work at pace and prioritise workload. Previous experience within a Legal, Compliance or Regulatory function preferable. Retail knowledge required.
