As part of this graduate scheme here at ASDA you’ll receive an excellent start in the industry through a combination of hands-on experience and structured learning. You will be involved with Product Ranging decisions across all formats.

A strong business background is not required for success within the retail environment. Buying requires a vast and diverse skill set, many of which are transferable. The most important quality is drive and an innate desire to continually learn.

Working in the Buying and merchandising team you'll work alongside the commercial food team to help deliver great quality products that allow us to give our customers the best offers, range quality and price.

During the 2-year graduate programme you'll rotate through a variety of teams, which gives you the chance to explore different areas and work across buying, merchandising, cat planning and find the area you enjoy most. All of this with a customer centric focus.

Your day-to-day will consist of:

  • Profit & Loss management.
  • Promotional planning.
  • Supplier meetings.
  • Internal sales reporting. – Plans to drive sales
  • Improve performance by channel – Big stores, online and Express

  • A short, blended personality and numerical assessment
  • Three, quick video interview questions
  • A half-day assessment centre, where you will meet the team and find out more about the programme.

If you are successful, we will ask you to come and join ASDA in September 2025.
