Making the most of your optical skills

We want to give you the best start possible for your career at ASDA and so all new optical professionals to our business will attend a two day intensive induction at our Head office in Leeds. Our award winning ‘Best Welcome’ induction is the best way to get you up to speed with our business and find your feet as quickly as possible. We'll make sure you understand our unique culture and are equipped with all the tools you need to deliver in your role. You'll meet our people and understand how we fit into the wider Wal*Mart family.

After this you'll spend at least four weeks at your regional training store or 'Store of Learning' as we call them. Your time here will involve tailored training programmes which are suitable for your role in order to give you the support you need to deliver.

Continued Professional Development

Whatever your role within our Optical Department, we'll actively encourage and fully support your professional development. Because we're as committed as you are in ensuring you achieve your goals.

So we're always looking at ways to make CET more accessible and relevant to what you do. As we know it takes up your time, we'll be flexible towards your shift patterns and working hours. After all, the more skilled you are, the more our business will benefit!

Attendance at two annual CET conferences
Attendance on external courses
Dedicated CET time in store
