Home Shopping

More and more customers are using the convenience of our Home Shopping service to order their goods online and have them delivered. When orders come in, Personal Shoppers go round the store picking out the items for the 'virtual shopping basket' exactly as ordered. So while you're not helping customers face to face, you still need to know and understand them just the same.

Besides the Home Shopping that's delivered from individual stores, we've also created dedicated Home Shopping Centres in Leeds, Nottingham and North London. These are like stores, but with no customers in them, just colleagues focused on fulfilling online orders at a much faster rate than we can achieve in normal stores. It's all part of making our Home Shopping service better and better all the time.

Once Personal Shoppers have done their bit, it's on to the Service Crew to pack the selected goods and get them safely into the delivery van. It's all part of a great service which our busy online customers really appreciate.

Once everything's loaded into the Home Shopping van, the Driver goes to work and finishes the job.

What's it like to be a Home Delivery Driver?

Still quite new to the role, Ros White tells us why she wishes she'd joined Asda years ago.

In the 4 months I have been working as a Personal Delivery Driver I have learnt so much - the time has flown as I love what I do!

In the beginning I had a few concerns about being physically strong enough however weight is not a problem as I have been taught to lift correctly and the exercise is great - better than going to the gym!

Initially I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to handle a large vehicle but my confidence grew as I spent time with a driver buddy who is a professionally trained colleague. I soon learned that the van is not much different from a car as long as you respect it!

The team are great to work with; all the colleagues are helpful and respect each other. I was a bit nervous about working alone at first however there is always someone at the end of the phone if you need it, so you feel very supported.

The best part of the Personal Delivery Driver role is meeting all the amazing customers from all walks of life. I am very proud to represent Asda on the door step, to know that I can make a difference and leave a good lasting impression of Asda Home Shopping. It feels great to finish work knowing I have brightened someone's day.

I really do feel very passionate about my job, I love it, the only regret I have is that I didn't do this years ago!
