Small stores. Big Opportunities

At Asda we call our small store format "Supermarkets" - these are part of our growing networks of stores with an average of 17,000 sq ft or below, we plan to open over 200 of them. They're perfect for shoppers living in smaller towns and suburban areas, and although they're smaller in size they're just as big on customer service and everyday low prices!

They offer a great challenge in ensuring optimum stock range and availability while maintaining strict cost control, high service standards and strong team motivation. It's a great experience, and will prepare you for a bigger stage when you're ready.

Store Manager and Deputy Manager roles in these smaller stores are the perfect stepping stone for even bigger challenges in our larger chain stores. Obviously it's a much smaller team in the store - anything from 10 to 30 - so as a Manager you have a much more hands-on involvement in every aspect of running the business and leading the team.

Learning to balance this day-to-day involvement with your team and your customers against the more strategic planning and direction of the business is great preparation for large-store management.
