Shift Leaders and Section Leaders are supervisory roles and can often provide a great stepping stone for hourly paid colleagues to progress into a salaried management position. These are important operational roles and often play important duty management cover within the store. We reward these colleagues with an enhanced rate of pay.

Shift Leader

This is a new role especially created for our smaller Supermarkets. It's an hourly paid position, but with more responsibility and a clear path to a career in management. As part of the Duty Management Team, you'll ensure the attention to detail that makes us great at retail. This means making sure the right things are being done by the right people, at the right time, and in the right way. It means making sure your shop floor colleagues deliver a great customer experience - with you showing how it's done as their coach, manager and motivator. While you're getting the best out of others, you'll always be learning more about your job too - developing valuable skills for bigger challenges ahead.

Section Leaders

Product availability, colleague availability, product quality and customer service are all part of your everyday working life as a Section Leader. You'll need to be a strong coach, motivating colleagues to deliver and maintain department standards, keeping teams fully informed and focused through the daily get-togethers known as the Asda 'huddle'. Through detailed planning of overtime and holidays you'll make sure colleagues are available to serve the customer. You'll ensure the right products are on the right shelves at the right time. All this while making sure colleagues are fully trained, up to speed and up for the challenge.
