Asda Management Qualifications

There are so many exciting opportunities to develop your career here. If you're already employed by Asda as a Section Leader, Shift Leader or Department Manager and you meet the criteria, you can work towards Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma in Retail Management.

This is an 18 month programme and requires anyone participating to complete 6.5 hours work per week in your own time, with assessments based on written assignments. It's not easy, but when you've got the opportunity to develop yourself and further your career then you'd expect a little hard work wouldn't you?

Apprenticeships or A-Levels?

If you join us a Section Leader, Shift Leader or Manager, you'll have the opportunity to attend an Apprenticeship Induction where the City & Guilds Assessor will complete an evaluation of your skills and current abilities.

Using the information collected from this evaluation, they'll agree which Apprenticeship and which Level is most suited to you. The key difference between the Management Qualification and the Apprenticeship programmes is that the majority of work is in the form of written assignments. Plus, there is a real emphasis on the Leadership qualities required in these retail roles. This means that Asda and City & Guilds will help you to enjoy the support and development towards the qualification that is absolutely right for you.

Training & Development

As a world class organisation, we offer world class training and development. This is typified by our unique Stores of Learning (SOLs). We've 16 SOLs across every part of the UK, including Northern Ireland. A SOL is a typical Asda store with a training centre attached - the perfect set-up for 'real store' experience combined with off-the-job learning, including bringing you up to speed with our systems, processes and procedures. SOLs are unique to Asda, and no other retailer provides this level of training. Last year, over 2,000 managers who were either new to Asda, new to management or new to their role were trained at SOLs and equipped to excel in their new role.
