Jyoti

Hi I'm Jyoti, and I'm a Recruitment Coordinator for ASDA in Wembley Store of Learning.
My current role involves shifting and screening CV's for Pharmacy and Optical vacancies. Also, I'll screen CV's for Management positions across the North of London. This includes Food vacancies, Produce, Grocery and Warehouse.

Although I don't deal with customers directly in my job, I do know what it's like. I first started at Asda when I was at university - it was a Saturday job at George - so I've got first-hand experience of what we need to look for in the people we recruit.

The most important thing is your attitude. You have to be positive and motivated, good in a team, but also ready to take responsibility for your own performance. You also have to be able to communicate with all sorts of different people. It's the only way that you'll get to understand your customers' needs.

Anyway, if you have the right attitude, you'll be trusted to just get on with your job. I think, for me, that's one of the best things about working at Asda. The opportunities and responsibility I've been given have really helped to bring on my leadership and problem solving skills. I can make decisions under pressure, and I'm much more confident in my abilities than I used to be.

Of course, it helps that we can have some fun while we work. My manager would laugh to hear me say it, but there's a real homely atmosphere around here. It's very friendly and flexible, everyone's easy-going and open minded. We're just one big happy family!
