Hi, my name is Dave, I work for George, I've been here for three and an half years and this is what I do.
Working at Asda can be challenging, but it's also fun. You get to see all walks of life and you meet new people every day.
Of course, you do get the odd difficult customer - one or two individuals who seem determined to make your day a misery - but the trick is not to let things like that get you down. You need to stay positive, treat everyone the same, and always be as helpful as you can. Even if you're hanging up clothes and someone wants you to tell them where the beans are!
If you do all that, you'll find
you get as much out of your dealings with the customers as they do.
Especially the regulars. It's always nice to see a familiar face,
and there are a few that I've built up pretty good relationships
with - friendships even - which I didn't expect to
happen.
We have this one character who comes in all the time. He always
has a stereo with him and he walks around singing along. We all
have a good chat and a laugh with him, doing what we can to
brighten up his day as much as he does ours. I really enjoy things
like that. It gives me something to go home and tell my family
about at the end of the day.
