Committed to the principles. Proud to be recognised

Our philosophy as an employer is simple. If your people enjoy working with you, your customers will enjoy shopping with you. That's why we do everything possible to make the career journey at Asda not just a good one, but a great one. It means investing in the development and support of every colleague. It means being open and honest in the way we operate and communicate. It means taking care of the small details as well as the big issues. It means being an employer that sets standards. If all our principles could be summed up in one phrase, it's "Doing The Right Thing".

And that's why we are proud to partner with the following organisations:

ASDA Logos V2

Putting our principles into practice every day is something that comes naturally. We don't go chasing awards, but they do have a habit of coming after us! And of course we're always very proud when we get recognised for the standards we set. What really matters to us is creating the recipe. Awards are the icing on the cake. But at least they tell us that we must be doing something right!

This page provides a constant update on the latest employer awards that have come our way. Every award spurs us on to raise the bar even higher to make our colleagues' experience even better.

Top Employers

Asda was recognised as one of the Top Employers in the UK for 2014 at an internationally renowned award ceremony. This was a fantastic honour for Asda as only a small number of UK employers are thought to have the right working practices in place to receive such an award. We are delighted to share this fantastic news and would like to thank everyone for all the hard work that goes into making Asda such a great place to work.

Best overall performance in fostering employee share ownership (>15,000 employees)

Asda offered its first employee share plan exactly 30 years ago, and fostering employee share ownership has been at the heart of the business ever since. The judges were impressed with a range of initiatives which, combined with effective communication via SMS, phone, online and email, delivered a very comprehensive package.

Women of the Future Awards - Fiona and Lindsay

These awards recognise the work of women from all walks of life and interests - a celebration of the success that hard work, passion and determination can bring.

Congratulations to Fiona, Brand Director, and Lindsay, a General Store Manager.

Fiona received the award for Mentor of the Year in recognition of her total passion and commitment to helping those around her shine. The judges said that Fiona was totally deserving of the award and that as soon as they met her 'it was immediately clear that Fiona has the ability to really make a difference in her organisation" and that "she truly has no idea just how good she is".

Lindsay meanwhile was given the title of Business Woman of the Future in recognition for her fantastic work as a GSM. The judges said they wanted to give Lindsay the award because she is "a true pioneer who genuinely wants to inspire others" and were bowled over by her "inspirational philosophy that it doesn't matter where you come from or what you started with, you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to".

No resting on our laurels

Awards from industry peers tell us we're doing things right, but they don't say 'your work is done'. Every award is simply a spur for us to keep improving, innovating and investing in our people. Watch this space.
