Information for agencies

We get a lot of interest and many calls from recruitment agencies and we can't possibly keep in touch with all of you. Although we do appreciate the interest you have in supporting our business.

Our way of working At ASDA we always prefer to recruit candidates direct to our business and believe in promoting from within whenever possible. This is in line with the ASDA way of working - we're a lowest cost to operate type of business. Our purpose is to make goods and services more affordable to our customers. With this in mind the majority of colleagues who work here apply directly.

Preferred suppliers

The success of our brand means that we're also fortunate enough to be approached directly by many candidates, but now and again we may need help from recruitment agencies - who are on our Preferred Supplier List.

All areas of our business have a Preferred Supplier List (PSL) and we always stick to this. We've worked hard with our suppliers to build world class relationships and we make sure that this is based on trust and respect. Our agencies are always briefed fully on the role/s we need them to work on, understand our employer brand, culture and fit. This saves us time not reviewing potential candidates that are not right for Asda. We therefore do not accept speculative CVs.

We have no plans to review our PSL at the moment. Therefore please do not ask us to! We ask that you respect the relationships which we've built up with our Preferred Suppliers and follow our guidelines. We always work with our Preferred Suppliers to work on our difficult to fill roles.

Putting candidates forward

If you are a PSL agency, you will have been provided with a log in to our Agency Portal and a user guide. Any vacancies we want you to work on will be sent to you via the portal and candidates must be submitted via the Portal. Candidates received in any other way (by PSL or non PSL providers), will not be considered as owned by that agency.

Before submitting a candidate via the agency portal, we would always expect you to have met with the candidate personally, discussed the specific vacancy and interviewed them too - as well as having followed up relevant references and Right to Work documentation etc.

What else do we need you to agree to?

Most importantly - do not contact any ASDA colleagues directly, all recruitment queries and communication should come through the Resourcing Team. We ask that you don't advertise on our behalf with our company logo without our prior agreement.

If we need your help and support we'll contact you!

We do not take cold calls from agencies who are not on our PSL so please don't be offended if we don't return calls!

We want to have a great working relationship with you - and we understand you want the same and are just trying to do your job. So we ask - please respect the way we work.

Thank you for your understanding.
