Rebecca
Public Relations Community Officer
ASDA House

Hi, I'm Rebecca and I'm a Public Relations Community Officer in the ASDA PR department.

I look after public relations on a local level across the UK which means that I spot the best opportunities to promote ASDA within local press including the opening of any new stores. Additionally, I'm responsible for public relations about ASDA's work in the community and press releases about any examples of exceptional customer service our colleagues have delivered.

My role means I get the opportunity to travel to all of our new stores and meet lots of different colleagues so it's a great role for me as I'm a real people person! On a typical day I will deal with press calls from national and regional journalists, look for new news stories, organise filming requests and talk - a lot! - to stores, customers, journalists and anyone that will listen! One of my favourite things about working for ASDA is that we are all colleagues, one team across the whole business and so this means that I feel really proud when we celebrate our colleagues' achievements in the press.

On days when I'm not out visiting stores, I'm based in ASDA House which is a really fun place to work. There's always something going on in the Atrium, our entrance hall, such as sampling from our suppliers, games or competitions and we'll often have celebrity guests for book signings or other events. I even made a cake for Gordon Ramsay and for Delia Smith when they came in to visit us here for book signings earlier in the year!

I first joined ASDA in the customer services department after completing my degree in PR because it gave me the flexibility to work over the weekends so that I could look for work experience during the week. After working there for a few months though, I knew that ASDA was the right place for me so I applied for a role in the PR team and I'm pleased to say I was successful! I love the unique style of ASDA's press releases and it's such a fun place to work! I also know that there are many options open to me for my career at ASDA and I'm confident that my team will support me to develop myself, whatever direction I choose to take.
