Hi, I'm Julie and I'm a Employee Relations Manager in the Employee Relations Manager Relations team at ASDA House. Our team are responsible for setting and implementing People, or HR policies, and we also provide a helpline for colleagues and managers who require support and advice on general employment law as well as ASDA's own policies.
I began my career with ASDA in 1986 as a Fresh Food Manager in various stores across the West Midlands. The opportunity arose for me to move into an HR Manager role, or People Manager as we call it at ASDA and I've never looked back! Since becoming a People Manager in 1995, I've worked in various People roles at a store level and a regional level and now in a role as a manager in a team which supports the whole business based at ASDA House.
At ASDA our culture underlies everything that we do and I'm really proud to be part of the People team who drive this culture within our business. In my varied roles within the People function I've been involved in recruiting colleagues, ensuring colleagues are trained and have the opportunities to develop, rewarding and recognising great work and long service from colleagues, ensuring colleagues deliver excellent customer service and much, much more. In my current role, I'm able to bring all my experience together to work cross functionally with other departments in forming our People Policies and contributing to the business success.
Throughout my career at ASDA, I've always been impressed with the number and quality of internal training programmes available to all our colleagues - development is there for any colleague who wishes to progress. ASDA was able to support me with funding and flexibility to complete my CIPD post graduate qualification in HR which has enabled me to develop professionally and I continue to develop my skills through the internal modules and programmes available here.
