ASDA House

I'm Andrew and I'm a Finance Manager on the ambient distribution network for ASDA. The ambient network includes 11 depots and distributes all our goods that can be stored at room temperature such as fizzy drinks, alcohol and cereals.

It’s a complex and challenging role as it involves driving financial performance in an area which can be affected by so many variables. This means that not only do I need to have strong accountancy and analytical skills, I also need to have a thorough understanding of logistics and the pressures faced by our distribution network.

I was first attracted to ASDA by colleagues I’d worked with at other companies who had moved to work in the Finance Department here at ASDA. They really sold me on the company culture, and the opportunities for solid career progression which come with working in an organisation of ASDA’s size.

In the four years I’ve spent here it’s certainly proved to be the case and I’ve progressed from junior to senior manager and developed along the way by working hard on the challenging and influencing skills which are so important in my role.

Over the last three years I’ve also been given the chance to develop my more creative and artistic side by writing scripts and songs for the Finance Department Christmas Panto – so who says accountancy can’t be fun as well?
