A worldwide adventure

Asda is known for some famous and memorable marketing, from the campaigns such as the 'Asda Price' pocket-tapping to the celebrities like Michael Owen and Paul Whitehouse. But TV commercials are just the tip of a very big iceberg. In our UK Marketing team we have 250 people in 27 different departments tuned to our customers' needs and our competitors' moves.

Marketing is the eyes and ears of the business as well as the voice, and you could be involved in any number of exciting projects - from insight and analysis to launches and promotions. For example, the recent relaunch of our own-brand 'Chosen By You' range involved 64,000 consumers taking part in 200,000 blind taste tests across the UK. We invested £100 million in benchmarking, testing and reformulating products to improve quality - a scale unprecedented in UK retailing. Through listening to customer's opinions and tuning into their tastes, we've achieved an impressive increase in market share. (Pop into your nearest Asda and try a 'Chosen By You' product for yourself, and you quickly realise why they're going down so well!)

In 2009, Walmart recognised Asda's UK marketing team as a 'centre of excellence'. In effect, this means we act as a marketing 'academy' for the whole of Walmart, developing people and projects for the 14 counties that Walmart trade in. That tells you everything you need to know about the quality of career you can expect here. And there's incredible variety too, with so many different teams combining to create this excellence. These include… Pricing, Insight, Brand, PR, Corporate Affairs, Activity Planning, In Store, Advertising, Digital, Merchandising, Product Development, International Marketing, Local Marketing and our Media Centre.

Never costing the earth

At Asda we're dedicated to keeping prices low and delivering great value to our customers. 'Saving our customers money every day' is our daily mission. But we know we can always be better, and our Corporate Affairs team are continually working to make Asda a better business, for our customers, colleagues and the planet. Better means treating our colleagues and suppliers more fairly, cutting down on energy use in stores, and helping find healthy, ethically sourced products. These actions are good for people and for the planet. While some call it sustainability - we simply call it better business.

Corporate responsibility isn't something new to us. We've always worked hard to reduce our impact on the environment. Since 2005, with our parent company Walmart, we've been measuring our achievements in three key areas: products, energy, and waste. Now we want to invite you to join us on this journey. Whether it's cutting back on food waste or the energy use in the home, we know everyone can get involved. If you feel as passionately about these things as we do, you'll be able to build a bright future for yourself here.
