An Industrial Placement, or a shorter internship, can give you a priceless insight into our business, and an inside track onto our Graduate Programme. And because you get treated as part of the team and given real responsibility to deliver crucial business tasks, you'll find out whether retail really is the right choice for you. If it is, you've given yourself a head start. If it isn't, you've saved your career from making a false start. So it's a good move, whichever way you look at it.
Placements are offered in Finance, Food and Non-food Technology, Technical Governance, Trading Law, Trading, Supply and Global Information Systems. In Finance there is also a Summer Internship programme. All are based at Asda House, our Home Office in Leeds. In 2013 our Placements will be advertised with our other Asda House vacancies under Fixed Term Contracts. Those that are suitable for a placement will have 'Assistant' in the job title. The entry criteria and online application processes may differ slightly depending on which area of the business you are applying to. As you progress you can expect regular reviews offering advice, support and feedback on your performance, keeping you moving in the right direction. There may follow an interview at the end of your placement which could lead to a conditional offer to join one of our Graduate Programmes (on the basis of you achieving at least a 2:1 Honours degree). Even if that doesn't happen, you could still apply for a Graduate Programme once you have graduated, armed with a great understanding of how Asda operates.
