Stores of Learning & Distribution Academy
Getting your career off to the best start possible
You can expect comprehensive training and development whichever graduate programme you choose. On most programmes, you’ll gain a crucial understanding of our business whilst developing your skills in one of our Stores of Learning (SOLs). If you join our Distribution Management scheme, you’ll experience your tailored training at our Distribution Academy instead.
Stores of Learning - SOL's
So what exactly is a SOL? It’s an Asda store – and so much more! It’s a dedicated training centre of excellence attached to a store and we currently have 16 of them in the UK, including Northern Ireland. You could spend up to twelve weeks here, learning about the Asda way of working and how we strive to give great customer service from every area of the business.
If you join our Retail Management programme as an existing Asda colleague - you’ll be trained as a Department Manager in one of our SOL's. If you join one of our home office schemes, you’ll enjoy a tailored training template designed to give you a real insight into how our stores operate and how your chosen function really contributes to the smooth running of our stores.
Training is tailored to you and your role, and is provided by our SOL colleagues who are experts in their field. Training includes shop floor experience in a real, working store, supported by classroom based tuition in our systems, processes and ways of working. It’s the perfect environment to help you succeed – and it shouldn’t come as a surprise by now to learn that no other major UK retailer offers anything similar.
Distribution Academy
Join our Distribution Management programme and you’ll spend time at the Distribution Academy. Designed to give you the best start possible, the Academy will train you in best practice and give you all the tools you need to make an impact from the start.
Here you’ll begin to understand the technical aspects of your role as well as working on your personal development. Part of this also includes spending time in stores – who will be your customers. This provides you with a real insight into the issues that stores face.
Overall, the Distribution Academy will help you to develop the technical and behavioural skills needed to deliver in your role from the very beginning. So, you’ll be in the perfect position to deliver results.
