At Asda you’ll enjoy many opportunities to take on extra projects that really interest you, gain exposure to many business areas and get involved in charity events and team building away days. So, you could soon find yourself sitting in a bath of custard or taking part in 'It's a Knockout'.
Your development will begin by putting together your own Personal Development Plan. Your line manager and your mentor will help and coach you on this, but the most important thing to remember is that you drive your own development. You'll look for opportunities to continually develop and stretch yourself, learning from the great talent that you'll find all around you in our business. In fact, you'll keep on trying to gain as much from your experience as you can.
As well as regular one-to-ones with your line manager, you'll have two formal career direction reviews a year. By making the most of these, you'll be able to assess how you’re doing and identify your opportunities to work on. You'll amend your development plan to take account of where you’re aiming to get to.
There are many additional development opportunities available - above and beyond your day job to provide you with the skills needed to be a great leader. There's an extensive programme available for you to sign up for, whichever scheme you join us on.
On the job learning
With so many different roles available, each with their own unique challenges and opportunities, it's no wonder that a 'one size fits all' training programme won't be enough. In fact, each role has its own tailored training programme to give you the skills and technical ability to deliver some serious success. A large part of this involves on the job learning tailored for you.
