Meet our Chairman
Thank you for visiting our graduate website. I'm very proud of the achievements of our talented graduates and the contribution they continue to make to our business. I hope you'll be just as successful. Whatever career path you choose, my advice to you is that nothing replaces hard work. If you combine this with the right attitude, you'll go far at Asda.
What are our expectations of you?
- As you'll be joining part of the biggest retailer in the world, you'll have the desire to be world class too.
- You'll need a positive attitude and the drive to succeed in a role that offers real responsibility from day one.
- We select high potential individuals for our programmes and give them lots of opportunities to prove themselves. So, you'll be expected to progress quickly through the business.
- Asda's a great company that prides itself on being a fantastic place to work, so I would expect you to have a great time on our graduate programme.

An Engineering graduate from the University of Salford, Andy was President and CEO of Asda since March 2005 prior to becoming Chairman. He started his Asda career as a Marketing Manager in 1994, but during his 14 years at the company he's also been COO, responsible for Retail Operations and Logistics, Managing Director for George, taking over when George Davies left the company, and Marketing Director.
As CEO, Andy sharpened Asda's strategic and operational focus, re-invigorated the top team and ensured a renewed focus on a common sense approach to retail. The result? Asda was the fastest growing of the top four supermarkets in 2007.
