There are also a range of career opportunities for graduates at George.
As a business, we never stand still. We're always thinking of smarter ways to do things. Within IT, you'll focus on managing the design, development, implementation and support of system solutions to the business, working together with Wal*Mart. Look much further than our checkouts. Think about the replenishment systems that order products from our suppliers and flow through our Distribution centres to the stores. Or the finance and payroll systems that ensure our suppliers' invoices are processed correctly and quickly and that 170,000 colleagues are paid for all their hard work. As a graduate here, you'll work with people and teams throughout Asda on all the innovative ideas and strategies that meet the changing needs of our customers and keep us one step ahead of the competition.
You could be supporting and maintaining any kind of system across our entire business. These are the systems that enable us to reduce costs and increase efficiency in the way we work. Recently we've been working with the US development teams to introduce a new system to record the hours worked by our colleagues in our stores. We've also developed systems that automatically assign drivers at our Distribution centres to the most efficient store delivery schedule for them. So, from Home Office (our head office) to stores and depots, you can expect to gain a deep understanding of our business needs and help to provide the structure and support necessary to drive change projects. At all times you'll maintain our high standards and a ‘business as usual' approach.
Not only that, you'll have an opportunity to work with suppliers and alongside Wal*Mart on some very big projects. You'll be given the chance to play a key role in projects that bring fresh ideas to our business and deliver global solutions that have a real positive impact on the world around us.
That's what we're looking for. We want graduates with the get-up and go to quickly gain an in-depth understanding of any business area. You'll deliver solutions that add value and inspire others to do the same. You really don't have to be a technical expert, however you do need to be able to translate complex messages into everyday language for our colleagues and our customers. Team working is another key quality you'll need. Not only day to day with your immediate contacts, but also across the UK and our global family too. As a leader of tomorrow, you'll need the drive and determination to take responsibility for your own development by challenging yourself to do a great job on a daily basis.
We consider applications from graduates with a 2:1 honours degree in any discipline.
This role is based at Asda House in Leeds.
