You've seen the Asda lorries on the road but there's so much more to us behind every truck! If you're looking for a graduate management career that will really take you places, then Distribution is the place for you! Our distribution business is a 24/7 operation. It's how we're able to provide the right products for our customers at the right time. So, it's your chance to put yourself at the forefront of our business performance.
We deliver our products by rail, road and air into our distribution centres, whilst at the same time, working hard to reduce food miles and carbon emissions. As well as 1.7 million cases of general goods from kitchen pans to the latest CD's and 2.5 million items of George clothing, we also deliver nearly 20 million cases of chilled and packaged food and drink from 23 depots every week. So are you ready for the challenge!
The programme
Join our three year programme and you'll start at our Distribution Academy. You'll spend time in one of our depot Centres of Excellence to understand how it all works. This will be an intensive period of training where you’ll learn the technical aspects of your role, and we'll also work with you to develop your behavioural and leadership skills. You'll then be ready to take on your first role as a Line Manager.
Our Line Managers in our depots are accountable for the smooth running of their shift, ensuring full availability of our products to our stores and of course our customers. You'll be jointly responsible for a team of up to 100 colleagues and work with other Line Managers to deliver a successful and efficient 24/7 operation. During the busy Christmas period you’ll need to think on your feet to make sure your depot maintains excellent service to our stores with ever increasing volumes of stock.
You'll have the opportunity to progress and develop new skills in Line Manager roles across different distribution centres around the UK. You'll learn about the challenges of the different types of depots as you go. For example in our chilled depots all the stock is in to our depots and out to our stores within 24 hours. Whereas our ambient depots hold large volumes of stock for longer periods of time and the challenge is to maintain the right levels of stock to deliver great availability to our stores at all times.
Our aim is to move you on to the challenging role as a General Manager in one of our depots in as little as five years, with a lot of commitment from yourself of course!

What do I need to apply?
We consider applications from graduates with a 2:2 honours degree in any discipline, but if you have a related degree, that would be ideal.
Where will I be based?
This role is nationwide; you could work in any depot within your region so you'll need to be able to get to different locations. Ideally you'll have a full UK Driving Licence but if you don't, that's ok, just be prepared to tell us how you plan to get around.
