Stores

Our stores

There are nearly 400 ASDA and ASDA Living stores in the UK and Northern Ireland and we’re adding to them all the time. Our flexible food store formats are perfect for town centre, district centre and edge-of or out-of-centre regeneration projects. Every effort is made to design our stores to complement their environment and meet the requirements of the local community so we have three food store formats that help us achieve this.

Small Stores

This format is perfect for smaller towns and suburban areas and up to 300 new job opportunities for local people are created when we open new ones.

Superstores

Our superstores are the most instantly recognised of the ASDA brand and have an average sales area of 42,000 feet. They offer a wide range of food and general merchandise products such as George clothing, home wares and electricals and approximately 450 colleagues work in each of these stores.

ASDA Walmart Supercentres

Supercentres sell the full range of ASDA food and general merchandise products and are the largest of our stores, with a typical sales space of 80,000 square feet. They are usually on the edge of towns or on out-of-centre retail developments and we have approximately 750 colleagues working in each one.

The culture

The first thing you’ll notice about any of our stores, no matter what type of store it is, is just how friendly and helpful all the colleagues are, and how much is going on, all the time.

For example, where else would you be met at the door by a Greeter who’ll always give you a big "hello" and let you know about the day’s special offers and promotions.

And where else could you pick up a plasma TV, 5kg of potatoes and your prescription all under one roof, and all for less than you’d find them anywhere else?

Working environment

Work in one of our stores and you’ll find it’s an exciting, vibrant and challenging place to work. There's a real team spirit where everyone co-operates to give customers a great shopping experience. So don’t be surprised if you see the General Store Manager showing a customer where they can find the plain flour!

At the heart of communities

It’s not just inside the store that we believe in making the difference. Our stores are really involved with the local community and we pride ourselves on the role we play in making them better places to live. In fact, we’ve done everything from funding local youth groups in Glasgow to transforming a Lancashire primary school’s tarmac covered playground into a safer place for the children to have fun at break time.
